AI can now make music from text descriptions

With the increasing power of neural networks, algorithms are now capable of converting text into images, animations, and even short videos. These algorithms have caused a lot of controversy. A Getty Images stock image library is currently suing the creators of an AI art algorithm it believes has been illegally trained with Getty’s photos.

The music equivalents of these systems should not be a surprise. The implications of this are staggering.

Google researchers have developed an AI system that can convert text descriptions into music. These capabilities were demonstrated by the company using descriptions of famous works of art to create music.
