This tiny robot can locate and capture individual cells
Robotics’ latest innovation is a micro-motor which can transport, identify and trap individual cells. This is a major engineering feat that could be used in everything from air purification to medicine.
Both electric and magnetic fields are capable of controlling the machine. This is important if, as its inventors hope, the robot will eventually be implanted in the body.
The bot is made of a polystyrene ball coated with conductive materials such as chromium nickel and gold.
