The term \”generative AI\” is used to describe programs that use artificial-intelligence to generate new content from complex queries. For example, \”write a Robert Frost-style poem about monkeys\” or \”create an image of pandas draped across living room furniture\”.

AI, as a term, refers to programs that \”learn\” by analyzing new data. This concept has been around for many years in software, but generative AI puts a consumer-friendly spin on it.
