AI Memory: How does a neural network remember?

Researchers have developed a new artificial-intelligence model that improves memory performance using a classic neural networks.

Computer models can be used to study how the brain creates and stores complex information, such as memories. It’s not easy to create these models. A symphony – biochemically and electrically – of signals and a complex web of connections between cells and neurons creates the hardware that allows memories to be formed. Neuroscientists do not fully understand the biology of the brain and so it has been difficult to encode the process in a computer model.
