Unveiling the GITAI IN1: An Inchworm-type Robotic Arm with Enhanced Capability and Mobility

The GITAI In1, a robotic inchworm arm
Demonstration concept that I developed at the turn-of-the century for The Millennial Project. The two projects even had the same names.

GITAI has developed the GITAI In1 (Inchworm One), a robotic arm with inchworm-type \”grapple-end-effectors\”. Both ends of the arm are equipped with this feature. This unique feature increases both \”Capability\”, allowing it to connect with various tools (end effects) in order to perform various tasks for different applications, and mobility, enabling it to move anywhere. It can also connect/disconnect between different vehicles such as rovers and landers. Satellites are another option. The GITAI IN1 has completed several tests in a simulated moon environment at JAXA Sagamihara Campus, which correspond to Level 3 of NASA’s Technology Readiness Levels.
