The average data scientist is not able to afford a supercomputer that provides massive computing power for complex problems. What if cloud resources could be used instead? Microsoft Azure and Nvidia have taken this approach with their announcement, timed to coincide with SC22’s supercomputing event.

Microsoft and Nvidia announced they were building a \”massive AI cloud computer\”. The supercomputer is not a named system like the Frontier supercomputer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, or the Perlmutter supercomputer, the fastest Artificial Intelligence supercomputer on the planet. The new AI supercomputer, powered by Nvidia technology, is actually a collection of services and capabilities within Azure for high-performance computing (HPC).
