A teenager’s AI system for detecting deepfake videos wins an award
Counter programs to make the Internet a safer environment are also being developed as deepfake video becomes more common.

A press release announced that Greg Tarr, a 17 year old student from Bandon Grammar School, County Cork in Ireland, was declared the winner of 2021 BT’s Young Scientist & Technologist Award (BTYSTE). His project, \”Towards Deepfake Detection\”, won the award.
