Google to Demo AI Search Chatbot at I/O Conference Amid Pressure from ChatGPT

Google will soon demo AI Search chatbots amid pressure from ChatGPT

OpenAI’s ChatGPT is causing Google to feel the heat. ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence-powered bot that can give users the information they need in a simple format, has been sweeping the tech industry over the past couple of months. The New York Times reports that Google views ChatGPT as an imminent threat to its business. It has changed plans in the past few weeks.

According to the report, CEO Sundar Pichai declared a code red and has accelerated AI development. Google will reportedly show off 20 AI-powered search products this year and a chatbot. At least some of these are expected to debut at the I/O conference, which takes place in May.

A slide deck seen by The Times shows that Google is currently working on a number of AI projects, including an image generator, an improved version of AI Test Kitchen, a green screen mode similar to TikTok for YouTube, and a tool to create videos summarizing other clips. A feature called Shopping Try-on is also in the works (perhaps similar to what Amazon has developed), as well as a Wallpaper Creator for Pixel phones, and AI-driven Tools that could make Android app development easier.
