Google engineer on leave after he claims AI program has gone Sentient

Blake Lemoine came to his conclusion by conversing with LaMDA (Google’s artificially-intelligent chatbot generator), which he describes as part of a hive mind. He was supposed test his conversation partner for discriminatory or hateful language.

The Washington Post reported that when he and LaMDA emailed each other about religion, AI spoke about \”personhood\” (rights) and \”personhood\”.

Lemoine had many \”talks\” with LaMDA, and this was one of them. He tweeted a link to one — it’s a series chat sessions that have been edited (marked).
