Exploring the Potential of AI-Generated Virtual Worlds with Mark Zuckerberg’s ‘Builder Bot’ Demo

Mark Zuckerberg demos a tool for building virtual worlds using voice commands

Meta, the former Facebook, showed off today a prototype AI system which allows people to import or create things in a virtual world using only voice commands. The tool is called \”Builder Bot\” and the company views it as an \”exploratory idea\” that demonstrates AI’s ability to create new worlds within the metaverse. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg demonstrated the prototype in a video demo at the Meta AI event: Inside the Lab on Wednesday.

In the video, Zuckerberg described the steps involved in building virtual worlds. He starts with \”let’s visit a park\” and the bot creates a 3D park landscape with trees and green grass. Zuckerberg says, \”Let’s actually go to the beach,\” and the bot creates a landscape of sand, water and trees. He says that he would like to add some clouds, and notes that the entire thing is AI-generated. Zuckerberg changes the landscape, saying that he would prefer altocumulus cloud to show how precise the voice commands are.

The bot then creates an island by pointing to the area in the water. Zuckerberg gives several voice commands to the bot, including adding trees and picnic blankets. Also, he adds sounds of whales and seagulls. He even added a hydrofoil at one point — a reference to his favorite hobby, which became a meme.
