Professor Karl Friston has recently proposed a vision for artificial intelligence that embraces both humans and nature in a cyber-physical intelligence ecosystem. This vision is founded on the principle active inference which states that intelligent system can act on their environment and reduce uncertainty to achieve their goals. This results in a formalized account of collective intelligence based on shared goals and narratives.

Friston proposes that, to realize this vision Friston develop a hyper-spatial modeling language and transaction protocol as well as new methods for measuring, optimizing and measuring collective intelligence. It could be used to harness the power and potential of artificial intelligence without compromising the dignity or autonomy of humans. The book challenges us to rethink how we relate to technology, nature and each other. It invites us to become part of a global sense-makers community that is curious about the world, and wants to improve it.
