DeepMind scientists receive $3 million \”Breakthrough Prize\” for AI that predicts the structure of every protein
Scientists at Google DeepMind were awarded $3 million for creating an artificial intelligence system (AI) that predicted the 3D folding of nearly all known proteins.

The Breakthrough Prize Foundation (opens in a new tab) announced Thursday, Sept. 22, that the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences for this year went to Demis Hawassabis, co-founder and CEO at DeepMind who created the AlphaFold protein-predicting software, as well as John Jumper, senior staff researcher at DeepMind.
