Bio: Dr. Ben Goertzel, an entrepreneur, scientist and author who works across disciplines. In 2020, after living for a while in Hong Kong with his American parents, he moved to rural Seattle. He is the leader of the SingularityNET Foundation and the OpenCog Foundation. The AGI Society, which organizes the annual Artificial General Intelligence Conference, is also under his leadership.

Dr. Goertzel is also the chairperson of Humanity+ and Chief Scientist for the AI companies Singularity Studio and Rejuve. These firms are all part of the SingularityNET eco-system. He led the software development team for the Sophia robot at Hanson Robotics. As Chief AI Scientist at Awakening Health, he is responsible for the creation of Grace’s sister Sophia.

Dr. Goertzel’s research spans a wide range of areas, including artificial general intelligence (AGI), natural language processing (NLP), cognitive science, machine-learning, computational finance, Bioinformatics and bioinformatics. Other areas include virtual worlds, games, parapsychology, theoretical physics, and more. He has published over 25 scientific books, 150 technical papers and numerous articles in the media. He also speaks at many events around the world.

Dr. Goertzel received his PhD in Mathematics from Temple University in 1990. He has worked as an academic in various departments, including mathematics, computer sciences, and cognitive science in the US, Australia, and New Zealand.
