Artificial neurons can repair damaged circuits and cells
Autism could be treated with electronic neurons made of silicon that mimic brain cells.
Researchers will use this technology, in conjunction with machine-learning, to retrain damaged neurons or restore their function in people with Alzheimer’s or autism.
In 2015, another team tried to create artificial neurons from a conductive chemical. However, this version was too complex for human brain implantation and over-simplified the brain signaling.
