Wearable waterproof sensors with high sensitivity, location and wearability options
Wearable sensors are important tools for monitoring health and training artificial intelligence. They can be waterproof or measure multiple stimuli. However, combining all of these features while maintaining high precision is challenging. Researchers led by Huanyu Cheng, assistant Professor of Engineering Science and Mechanics at Penn State have developed sensors that are waterproof. This is important for monitoring exercise and withstand perspiration, as well as all weather conditions. They can also measure temperature and movement on small and large scales, and they can be attached to distal arterial arteries, such those under the eyebrows or in toes.
Chemical Engineering Journal has published the results online ahead of the September print issue.
Cheng stated that the sensor can be placed on the toe or eyebrow.
