Improved autonomous vehicle vision using location key

Researchers from QUT Robotics working with Ford Motor Company found a method to tell an autonomous vehicle which camera to use for navigation.

Professor Michael Milford is the joint director of the QUT Center for Robotics, Australian Research Council Fellow, and senior author. He said that the research was based on a study looking at how cameras, LIDAR sensors and other sensors commonly used in autonomous vehicles can help them better understand their environment.

Professor Milford explained that the key concept is to determine which cameras are best to use in different places around the world based on past experience.
