Fear of new technology was a major barrier to innovation before the digital revolution. The inventions that we now consider dated, but relatively harmless, were once considered the latest and greatest technology. In the absence of an effective way to inform the public about the newest, most exciting inventions, confusion and paranoia quickly replaced logic and curiosity among many consumers. Many of these inventions, while now considered revolutionary, were once feared by many.
