Science Fiction is influencing how we conduct war and we might not like the results
Science fiction is full of ideas about war, from high-tech weapons to killer robots and supercomputers. Some governments, including the UK and France, are turning to science fiction to imagine possible futures and to ward off potential threats.
Science fiction writers have been making predictions about future technologies for many years. These prophecies have become reality. Arthur C. Clarke predicted the Internet in 1964. Isaac Asimov, in 1983 predicted that life without computers would be impossible.
The governments have taken note. Science fiction can help us to imagine a world shaped by new technology, and it can teach us about possible threats.
