Generate AI to help humans create hyperreal population in Metaverse
Metaverse is evolving towards hyperreal virtual worlds filled with avatars who look and sound like us. Neil Stephenson’s Snow Crash is a description of a world filled with amusement parks and houses, entertainment centers, and even worlds within worlds. All of these are connected by a virtual road that is tens or thousands of miles in length. Metaverse is a virtual environment where users can navigate an avatar through virtual entertainment venues and workplaces. Metaverse is an interactive version of the Internet that will use different technologies, such as virtual (VR), augmented (AR), 3D graphics and 5G. It also includes holograms, NFTs, blockchains, haptic sensor, and AI. Generative AI is one way to scale personalized content to billions of users. It involves using AI algorithms to create new content.
Procedural generation in computing is a way to create data algorithmically, rather than manually. It’s usually done by combining human-generated assets, algorithms, and computer-generated randomness, along with processing power. It is used in computer graphics to create textures and models.
This algorithmic difficulty can be seen in Diablo style RPGs, and in some roguelikes that use the instancing of entities in-game to generate randomized items. It is less common to use it to determine the relative level of difficulty for hand-designed content that will be placed procedurally. This can be seen in the design of the monsters in Unangband. The designer can quickly create content but leave it to the game to decide how difficult that content is and where this content will appear in the procedurally-generated environment. Bullet hell shooters like the Touhou series use algorithmic difficulties. Although the user is only permitted to select certain difficulty values for the game, some community mods allow the user to ramp up the difficulty beyond these values.
