China outperforms the U.S. on AI research output, quality and quantity

A Nikkei report shows that China has surpassed the U.S. both in quantity and in quality of artificial intelligence research papers.

According to the study, Tencent Holdings and Alibaba Group Holding are among the 10 top companies that produce AI research. Chinese companies are steadily increasing their presence in an industry dominated by U.S. firms.
