AI reduces a quantum physics problem with 100,000 equations to only four equations
Scientists have trained a machine-learning tool to capture the physics behind electrons moving in a lattice with far fewer equations that would normally be required. They did this without sacrificing accuracy. Artificial intelligence has allowed physicists to compress a quantum problem, which previously required 100,000 equations into a manageable task that only requires four equations. This was all done without sacrificing accuracy. This work could revolutionize the way scientists study systems with many electrons interacting. If the method can be applied to other problems, it could help in the development of materials that have extremely valuable properties, such as superconductivity, or usefulness for clean energy production.
