The Worst AI Advice you’ll Ever Hear

Facebook (now Meta), popularized Silicon Valley’s ethos by using the phrase \”Move quickly and break things\”. The approach may have worked in disrupting the social network business, but now it is causing problems for Facebook and other AI giants. Many AI projects fail because they are too slow and break things. According to a study by MIT, more than 85% of AI project fail to achieve their stated goals, and 70% data science projects are never completed. Moving fast and breaking things won’t get you closer to your goal.

There is a difference between breaking things and iterating towards success.

AI is not a good fit for the oft-quoted Silicon Valley mantra of \”Move Fast and Break Things\”.
