Can computers develop to a point where they are able to think creatively and identify items or people they haven’t seen before? And do so while using less power, more efficiently? Intel Labs has a new approach to hardware and software that uses neuromorphic computing. According to a blog post published recently, it \”uses new algorithms to emulate how the brain interacts with objects in the real world, to deliver capabilities more similar to human cognition.\”

Intel’s research on neuromorphic computing is already fostering some interesting applications, such as how to add voice commands to Mercedes Benz vehicles, create a robotic arm that delivers medication to patients, or develop chips that can recognize hazardous chemicals.
