Exploring Real Estate on Mars: UArizona Engineers Develop Robot Team to House-Hunt in Space

Engineers create robots that can house-hunt in space and scout for real estate

The robots are equipped with miniaturized sensors that they deploy as they move through a subsurface environment or cave.

The possibility of life on Mars is much closer than we think. Researchers at the University of Arizona College of Engineering have already started scouting for real estate and looking for houses. Their helpers? Their helpers?

The lava tubes and caves that are available would be perfect for astronauts. You don’t need to build a building, and you will be shielded from harmful radiation. All you have to do is decorate it and make it cozy.

Fink and his team published a paper in Advances in Space Research detailing a \”communication system that would connect rovers and lake landers and even submersibles through a mesh topology network. This allows the machines to work as a group, independent from human input.\”
