Researchers Warn about New Go-based Malware that Targets Windows and Linux Systems
In recent months, a new multi-functional Go malware called Chaos has grown in volume rapidly to capture a variety of Windows, Linux and SOHO routers as well as enterprise servers.
Researchers from Lumen’s Black Lotus Labs wrote in an article shared with The Hacker News that Chaos functionality included the ability to enumerate host environments, run remote shell command, load additional modules and automatically propagate by stealing and brute forcing SSH private key, as well DDoS attacks.
The majority of bots are in Europe and specifically Italy. Other infections have been reported in China, the U.S.A. These \”hundreds\” of IP addresses represent a time period of one month from mid-June to mid-July, 2022.
