Is DeepMind’s Gato AI a breakthrough in human-level intelligence?
DeepMind released what they call a \”generalist AI\” called Gato. Gato can play Atari, caption pictures accurately, chat with humans naturally, and stack colored blocks using a robot arm. Gato is a \”generalist\” AI that can perform 600 different tasks, including playing Atari games, captioning images accurately, chatting with humans and stacking colored blocks using a robot arm.
What is Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)?
AI is limited in its application outside of science fiction. Recent years have seen AI achieve great success in solving many problems. From writing software to folding proteins and even creating beer recipe, it has been able to solve a wide range of issues. However, individual AI models are limited. A model that is trained to do one thing will be of little value for another.
