AI in the Courtroom: A Robot Lawyer Set to Argue its First Case

Artificial intelligence is about to make its presence felt in a courtroom, in the form of a chatbot lawyer who will argue a case at a traffic court.

Joshua Browder is the founder of an empowerment startup for consumers who came up with the idea.

Browder plans to send an actual defendant into court with a recording device, earbuds and headphones sometime next month. Browder’s firm will feed audio from the proceedings to an AI which will then spit legal arguments. The defendant, according to Browder, has agreed verbatim to repeat the outputs of a chatbot to an unaware judge.
