Artificial intelligence and the future of Industry 4.0
The first industrial revolution began with the introduction to steam and water powered technology. Since then, we have made great progress. The current fourth industrial revolution or Industry 4.0 is focused on utilizing technology to boost industry efficiency.
These technologies include cloud computing, cyberphysical systems, artificial intelligence, and the internet of things. AI is the driving force behind Industry 4.0. It automates intelligent machines that can self-monitor and diagnose themselves. AI methods such as machine-learning (ML), deep-learning (DL), computer vision (CV), and natural language processing (NLP) help industries predict their maintenance requirements and reduce downtime.
To ensure a smooth and stable integration and deployment of AI-based system, it is necessary to make the results and actions of these systems comprehensible or, in other terms, \”explainable\” by experts. Explainable AI (XAI), in this context, focuses on the development of algorithms that create results from AI-based systems that are human-understandable. XAI is therefore useful for Industry 4.0.
