Online abuse can be prevented by algorithms
Every day, millions of children use chat rooms to communicate with each other. One of these \”children\”, however, could be a man pretending that he is a 12-year old girl. He may have far more sinister motives than chatting about episodes of \”My Little Pony\”.
Patrick Bours, NTNU professor and inventor at AiBA, is working on preventing this kind of predatory behavior. AiBA is an AI-digital moderation tool that Bours founded. It can detect sexual abusers online in chats between children and adults using behavioral biometrics.
As reported recently by Dagens Naeringsliv (a Norwegian financial journal), the company has raised NOK 7.5 million in capital from investors such as Firda, and Wiski Capital.
