Microswimmers: A Novel Treatment for Deadly Pneumonia in Mice

The tiny robots that swim can treat mice with deadly pneumonia

The University of California San Diego has developed microrobots – tiny robots that can deliver medicine and clear life-threatening cases of pneumonia caused by bacteria.

The microrobots successfully eliminated the pneumonia-causing bacteria from the lungs of mice and led to 100% survival. Untreated mice died all within three days of infection.

Nature Materials published the results on September 22.
