A new robot inspired by beetles uses elastic energy
The vehicle is powerful enough to overcome obstacles.
Researchers at the University of Illinois have developed new insect-sized robots that can jump in tight spaces. According to the University of Illinois, the creation of these robots represents a major advance for mechanical, agricultural and search-and rescue environments.
A new study led by Prof. Sameh Twfick demonstrates a series of robots the size of a click beetle that are fast enough to match an insect’s rapid escape time, powerful to maneuver around obstacles and small enough for confined spaces.
